MWD Beny, tattoo N333, a distinguished U.S. Army veteran whose service and dedication are forever etched into the heart of the Michigan War Dog Memorial. Beny was far more than a military working dog; he was a highly decorated soldier who spent over a decade standing guard for those who serve.
During his remarkable eleven-year career, Beny was assigned to the 100th Military Police Detachment based in Stuttgart, Germany. As a dual-purpose patrol and drug detection dog, he played a vital role in supporting law enforcement operations and ensuring the safety of military personnel and the wider Stuttgart community. His expertise frequently took him to the highest levels of security, where he conducted essential missions for the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of State, and leadership within EUCOM and AFRICOM.
In every mission, Beny exemplified the discipline and prestige expected of a Non-Commissioned Officer, a rank custom-bestowed upon these K9s to ensure they are always treated with the honor they deserve. To his many handlers, Beny was known simply as the best partner imaginable, a loyal companion who worked tirelessly until his retirement from active duty.
Though he passed away in 2021 after a long life that began in 2007, his identity remains defined by his unique military tattoo, N333—a permanent mark of his commitment to the U.S. Army. Beny now stands in spirit alongside his fellow K9 brothers and sisters at the Michigan War Dog Memorial. While his watch has ended, his legacy of service and courage will never be forgotten.
